Profile

Christine Renaud is an art maker, community organizer, and anarchist living on Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat and Mohawk land in Prince Edward County.
Expanding exploration with various art forms over the years, Christine’s most recent focus has been modern embroidery and textile arts. She finds the meditative process of slow stitching both a satisfying process and a coping mechanism to inhabit the larger world.
Themes that challenge the status quo, including feminism, anti-capitalism and social justice, influence her designs. Plants and nature occasionally figure as a necessary interruption. She creates largely from salvaged materials sensing the history of recovered elements as a necessary element of her work.
